In the last few years, Andrew Pacey has quickly established himself as one of
the most sought after DJs in Vancouver's underground dance scene. Early in his
residency at Believe Saturdays at the Red Room, he earned a reputation for his
dancefloor destroying peak-time sets. But eventually, he was recognized as a
versatile DJ that could engage the crowd at any time of night, whether it's
warming up to funky, tech house, banging out peak-time electro and progressive
floorfillers, or grooving to deep intellectual beats in the early morning.
This versatility in musical styles, combined with tight, technical mixing and an
obsession for seeking out the best in cutting edge dance music has earned him
residencies at Vancouver's most internationally recognized underground clubs,
Gorg-o-mish Afterhours and Focus Fridays at the Lotus Sound Lounge.
His musical influences are numerous: Before his DJing days, he played blues,
rock and metal guitar. Later in life, Andrew credits UK house god Steve Lawler
for his initial inspiration to take up DJing, with his dark and twisted tribal
beats that gained him his infamy. Other DJs that have influenced
Andrew's style include Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, James Zabiela, Lee Burridge and
Sander Kleinenberg.
As you might expect, his style cannot be summed up with one genre of music. Each
set he plays includes elements of progressive, tech house, electro, breakbeat
and techno, depending on his mood, the energy of the crowd, and the time of
night.
